Located on the eastern side of the Dandenong Ranges with picturesque views across to the Yarra Ranges and the Warburton valley. Bring a decent map if you have plans to follow a specific trail as it’s a cluster nest of forks and intersections, though you’re never too far from civilisation🙂 Particularly spectacular in Autumn as the deciduous trees shed their foliage. Originally established as an arboretum by Rupert Hamer in an effort to protect Olinda Village with the establishment of fire-retarding, exotic trees. Terrific spot for listening in on Lyrebird conversations. Don’t expect any solitude, Burke street lives here on a weekend.
